The value of wood

Curruchela is a small artisan workshop where we create jewelry with fine woods, based on our designs, inspired by traditional Galician jewelry making. It's our way of revaluing and disseminating Galician folk culture, using natural and sustainable materials.

The story of Curruchela

Marioliña was a little girl who always played with her father in the workshop. She was affectionate, cheerful, and playful: she was a delight to watch. Her father would lovingly sit her on a small wooden box in a corner of the table and give her a piece of bread. She would watch him with her big black eyes while he adjusted the clocks, absorbed in the radio, nibbling at his tummy, laughing, laughing, laughing.

One day, while repairing a very difficult clock, her father turned off the radio to concentrate on his work. And in the midst of that absorbing concentration, a strange noise brought him back to reality. "Hey, what are you doing over there in that corner, chewing the bread, crunch, crunch?" her father said loudly, grinning sideways. "You're a cruncher!" Marioliña shuddered with fear and looked at her father, but at the same time she laughed too and continued chewing the bread. Laugh, laugh, laugh, laugh.
